HARRODS X Katie Larmour Linen 🪲 'Bugs!' (part 1)
Well… I am extremely excited to tell you all about my collaborative collection with Harrods this year. It has been 8 months in the making - full of designing, sampling, sourcing even more gorgeous linens, new colours and finding special vintage rolls. It is crazy to think work was underway for this even before last Christmas. I am so thrilled that they noticed my work, and was delighted to create 20 pieces for them that fitted into their unique set themes for 2025. The pieces launched in-store and online in July. The project took me out of my comfort zone - using even brighter and bolder colours, and some designs even covering the entire front of the ornament in embellishment. This is new for me as my signature style is dainty amounts of thread and dashes of beading on top of very visible linen. Of course the backs are still covered in Irish Linen as usual, and so is still on full display. A portion of the designs were selected from my already existing decorations, and so I increased the scale, and added even more sparkle, to make them deluxe versions, exclusive to the department store. The brief and mood board I was given was bugs! I know, BUGS, utterly genius. But that is what sets Harrods apart, they aren’t just ahead of the trends but the trend setters. What an outrageously daring and magnificent idea, a tree decor of bugs and creepy crawlies. I should mention what the full set of themes are at this point - 'Curious Collector’, “Debutantes & Divas’ and ‘Poles Apart’. This is far too much to digest in one post, so I will split up the picture galleries into parts, see you in the next one.
I hope they go down a treat.
Katie 🪲🎄 xoxo

DRAGONFLY:
A dreamy bejewelled Dragonfly. The colour palette and faux gems on my Dragonfly were drawn from an image of an Art Deco enamel brooch by Lalique. This is the showstopper of our 2025 Harrods offerings.
SNAP OF THE RESEARCH TEAM:
Me and my biggest little guy Finn, exploring the Ulster Museum back in November 2025 when the project first came in. In front of the dazzling‘ Window to our World’ Victorian taxidermy specimens gathering up some research and inspiration.
BLUE BUTTERFLIES:
A set of brilliantly bright and beautiful floating butterflies, suspended and frozen in time.
My re-creations of the Blue ‘Morpho Cypris’ (above) and ‘Morpho Anaxibia’ (below). These were so much fun to create, and I hope they add magic to some fabulous trees out there.
CYPRIS - This is one of my more complex pieces in our Harrods collection, every single sequin has individually applied by hand, allowing layering and gradual blending of colour tone variations across the wings with some intricate tinsel thread for the veins. As the butterfly gently twirls on your tree the light will catch the changes as it moves from blue and turquoise into purple towards the edges of the wings. Plain Irish linen can be appreciated on the reverse, in a royal blue cloth from a family run mill in County Wexford in Ireland. This is inspired by the stunning ‘Morpho Cypris’ species of butterfly, identified by their iridescent cobalt blue with a whitish stripey band and markings.
ORANGE BUTTERLFY:
What a handsome butterfly the Orange Monarch is. With an essence of the majestic, it will hang proudly on your tree. I’ve tried to encapsulate the essence of this magical beauty with Irish Linen, sequins, tiny glass for beads and metallic thread. A small scattering of bronze iridescent sequins layered on top gives it some extra depth. Translating the intricate pattern of its veins into delicate tinsel thread, revealing the orange cloth beneath allows me to show off the charming qualities of the linen beneath. Sourced from a mill in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, its rich Autumnal hue means it can flutter its way through more than one season of home decor, an all-year-round choice. It pairs really well with our Sparkly Black Bat and Burnt Orange Toadstool. It sold out in days but there has just been another drop.
If you like something more neutral, take a look at our original (and smaller) rustic butterfly in recycled natural linen, here.
JEWEL BEETLE:
The Jewel Beetle was a step on from my scarab decoration. This gloriously creepy little critter is inspired by the fantastically coloured jewel beetles found in Victorian curiosity collections from far away exotic places. In real life these extraordinary bugs have iridescent wing cases that change colour depending on which angle the light hits them, I’ve tried to capture some of this mesmerising effect using a selection of multicoloured sequins. He’s exceptionally cute with his stylised face, spindly legs, juicy colours and the heart shape formed on the back. Delicately placed beading allow the gorgeous linen to be seen as well.
FROG:
Imagine this glistening froggy leaping out from your tree!
Using a fine apparel vintage Irish Linen in a deep green hue, embellished with clusters of sequins in iridescent green, shimmering with blue and a touch of pewter in the mix, all hand-stitched, topped with tiny glass dot beads for a glistening, luxurious look. Deviating from our signature use of gold and silver metallic thread we couldn’t find any pewter coloured ‘zari’ cord for the out trim on the market, we ended up making this in-house by twisting fine strands together, for an extra luxury finish.
We often find frogs in our back garden as two neighbours have ponds, my 3 and 4 year old boys shriek with delight when we do.
This one is exclusive to Harrods, can find our spring-summer smaller pastel green frog, here.
SWAMP CAKE:
We had a frog themed birthday party for my two toddlers over the summer so they could get involved too. This cake was a team effort as I stayed up until 2am decorating and the grandparents made sponge layers inside. The red, blue and black ones are poisonous, beware!
ORANGE TOADSTOOL:
The large faux pearls protrude from the mushroom head giving a luxurious 3D effect. The clever mix of pewter and silver beading on the stalk give a magical depth to this enchanting woodland find. Richly coloured metallic thread, that has been applied by hand, covers the top.
This is a burnt orange version of our original gold toadstool, click here.
BAT:
The Bat is perfect for flying across two seasons seamlessly. Display these cuties from September to December (and beyond). We scaled it up in size from our original bat, added more embellishment, and some spooky iridescent highlights in blue. The tiny eyes add character, along with the intricately hand-stitched stars, twinkles and moons.
OWL:
A well loved owl in the Ulster Museum, our first port of call when Harrods came calling. Wonderfully calming and serene is our peaceful Barn Owl. His ruffly feathers translated into delicate dashes.
All found exclusively at Harrods.com and on the shop floor in the flagship Knightsbridge (…well hopefully not on the actual floor).
I have to pinch myself folks!
