Irish Seal in Collaboration with 'SEAL RESCUE IRELAND'

Irish Seal in Collaboration with 'SEAL RESCUE IRELAND'

from £19.00

As of July 2024 we have teamed up with Seal Rescue Ireland, a wonderfully deserving charity based in County Wexford. If you are lucky enough to visit, look out for a selection of our sealife themed decorations in the gift shop at the entrance hall, from a summer donation drop. We are delighted to also collaborate with the centre on our webshop, and are giving 10% of our seal sales you make here towards the charity. Top tip - you have got to check-out their instagram page for some super cute seal pics, some of them are certainly having bundles of fun down there. It was a perfect fit for us as we source some of our most luxurious linen, woven right in Wexford, from a mill called ‘Emblem Weavers’, a perfect match for our pieces. We were happy to meet the patients this summer, including one who had just travelled down himself from the North. We learnt a lot on our trip too - and I am now pleased to say I can identify a ‘harbour’ to a ‘grey’, with their different nose shapes and puppy dog eyes, not to mention brown or spotty fur. The staff and volunteers really do a great job.

Do take a look at their website too for updates on the seals progress, find out about their unique stories, and of course how you can get involved: https://www.sealrescueireland.org/

Luxury artisan ornaments created from a source of recycled, sustainable Irish Linen. We use a mixture of vintage, local mill deadstock rolls from one of the last remaining linen mills still active in Ireland today, repurposed antique tablecloths, and off cuts from our own cushion making.

We love our designs and hope you do too- all our embroidered ornaments are fully copyrighted internationally to Katie Larmour.

2020 blog post: We’re very fond of our seals over here. One can often spot ‘Sammy the Seal’ on a Lagan Boat tour in Belfast’s Harbour (look out for our Irish Linen decorations in the ticket office in amongst a sea other vintage nautical vintage finds), in fact we made it on their request. Here’s a wee pic from my travels along the West Coast of Ireland’s ‘Wild Atlantic Way’ in the summer of 2020 visiting all my stockists and finding some new ones along the way. We hopped on a ferry at Glengarriff (where you can find our Irish Linen decorations in the main street’s ‘Weaver’s of Ireland’ store) to get a good close up look of ‘Seal Island’ which one passes by on the route to Garnish Island. It was so magical I savoured the moment instead of snapping pics of the seals themselves. The day trip felt, and looked, like the Mediterranean.

Condition: A portion of our beading may also be reclaimed and might show signs of wear.

Care: Decoration only. Even though they look yummy do not eat. Not a toy. Do not place near a naked flame.
