Tulip

Original Tulip: size TBC
Sparkly Gold Tulip: size TBC

A little spring colour, captured in Irish Linen. Our Tulip comes in two interpretations: the original, with beautifully coloured linen petals, and our Sparkly Gold Tulip, a deluxe version richly covered in metallic thread embroidery.

Inspired by the Tulip Festival at Glenarm Castle, who commissioned us to create a bespoke ornament a couple of years ago, and my own tulip show at home, I launched this little beauty in 2023. The simple, recognisable shape lets the colour and texture of the linen take centre stage, with fine gold lines tracing the petals and glistening green beads bringing the stem and leaf to life.

Since then, our little tulips have appeared in a growing palette of colours, from soft lilacs, faded lavender and delicate pinks to stronger fuchsia, cheerful yellows and warm peach tones. There have even been batches coloured with natural dyes, including blush tones from avocado stones and madder root, and pastel yellow from marigold flowers. Choose a favourite shade or gather a few together for your own little tulip display.

I later brought out our striking Sparkly Gold Tulip, giving the same flower a more elaborate finish. Its petals are filled with closely worked gold metallic thread embroidery in both matt and shimmering finishes, following their curved shape, while the green beaded leaf provides a little contrast. A striking golden bloom for those who like their flowers with an extra helping of sparkle.

Towards the end of our photographs, you’ll find a sprinkling of pictures of our own gardening pursuits at home. You can read the story of our little tulip show, from a few pots by the front door to a display of 300 bulbs, in our journal.

Both of our linen versions are perfect for your spring or Easter tree, tucked amongst flowering branches, or brought out again for Christmas. A little flower that can stay in bloom throughout the year. Just keep our Treetop Squirrel away from him!

Our Irish Linen

Our luxury artisan decorations are handcrafted from beautiful Irish Linen, thoughtfully sourced from a mixture of vintage fabrics, local mill deadstock, repurposed antique tablecloths and offcuts from our own cushion making. We also work with a small number of wonderful Irish linen mills, including one of the last remaining linen mills still active in Ireland today, carefully selecting fabrics for their colour, texture and character.

Contemporary Irish Linen Design

Katie Larmour Linen is an Irish design studio celebrated for refined craftsmanship, thoughtful sustainability and a modern approach to traditional Irish Linen.

Founded by designer-maker Katie Larmour, the studio brings together heritage materials and contemporary design to create pieces that feel both timeless and quietly distinctive.

Katie Larmour

Katie Larmour trained in Applied Art at the University of Ulster, Belfast, graduating in 2006. After eight years working as an art and antiques dealer, she established her design studio in 2014, combining a deep understanding of material culture with a hands-on making practice.

Irish Linen has always been central to her work. Growing up in Northern Ireland, surrounded by the legacy of the linen industry, and with family ties to the Huguenot artisans who helped shape it, linen is both a personal and professional inheritance.

A Material with Meaning

The studio is known for its use of natural, undyed Irish Linen, often in its distinctive oatmeal tone. Sourced from vintage and antique cloth, mill deadstock and studio off-cuts, the linen is chosen for its longevity, integrity and heritage.

Certified by the Irish Linen Guild as a trusted and recommended maker, the brand champions linen as a material worthy of careful design and contemporary relevance.

Festive Craft, Reimagined

Over recent years, Katie Larmour Linen has become particularly known for its beautifully crafted linen decorations, designed to bring warmth, softness and subtle sparkle to seasonal interiors.

Often described as jewellery for the tree, each piece is made using salvaged Irish Linen and intricate beadwork, designed to be treasured, collected and brought out year after year.

These designs are stocked internationally and can be found in cultural institutions, historic houses, museums, luxury hotels and design-led boutiques across Ireland, the UK and beyond.
