When Halloween pumpkins are so often bright, bold and rather impossible to ignore, I wanted to create something a little more understated. Our Pumpkin decoration takes a softer, more elegant approach to this familiar autumn favourite, with beautiful Irish linens in muted, earthy tones rather than the more conventional vivid orange.

Much like our Oak Leaf series, I've enjoyed working with a palette of mossy greens, burnt oranges, toasty browns and natural oatmeal shades. Many of these are vintage Irish linens, with a wonderfully soft, slightly fuzzy texture and the occasional little slub in the weave, giving each Pumpkin its own subtle character.

The shape itself is deliberately plump and rounded, beautifully contrasted by a delicate curling tendril worked in fine, pale gold metallic thread. I've also added a scattering of tiny embroidered dots. I'm not entirely sure why I keep returning to these little details, but they seem to find their way into so many of my designs, bringing a certain quiet magic with them!

Our Pumpkin has evolved through several batches over the years, beginning with natural oatmeal, followed by white, and later introducing those wonderfully murky tones mentioned above. I rather like revisiting some of our most popular designs, introducing new colours and fabrics while keeping their original character intact.

And then, of course, there's the powdery pastel blue Pumpkin, which is quite out of sorts with the rest of the collection! That little departure coincided with being instructed to watch Cinderella on repeat with my two little boys. I couldn't resist introducing a colourway with a gentle nod to the fairytale. For those who prefer to embrace the full Cinderella treatment, we also have our rather more elaborate Carriage decoration, crafted in pale dusty lilac linen, complete with wheels and a sparkling curtained window.

Lovely hanging amongst autumn branches, on a Halloween twig tree, or loosely arranged in a wooden bowl on the coffee table, our Pumpkin is a little celebration of the season without needing to be particularly spooky. A charming decoration to enjoy from autumn right through to Christmas.

And, naturally, we've included the obligatory pumpkin-patch photographs from this year's family outing in the gallery, complete with my Donegal wool 'pumpkin' jumper. It wouldn't quite be autumn without them!

And there's more to come! A cheeky, but still rather chic, new interpretation is already underway for 2027. Do come back and see what we've been up to!

Our Irish Linen

Our luxury artisan decorations are handcrafted from beautiful Irish Linen, thoughtfully sourced from a mixture of vintage fabrics, local mill deadstock, repurposed antique tablecloths and offcuts from our own cushion making. We also work with a small number of wonderful Irish linen mills, including one of the last remaining linen mills still active in Ireland today, carefully selecting fabrics for their colour, texture and character.

Contemporary Irish Linen Design

Katie Larmour Linen is an Irish design studio celebrated for refined craftsmanship, thoughtful sustainability and a modern approach to traditional Irish Linen.

Founded by designer-maker Katie Larmour, the studio brings together heritage materials and contemporary design to create pieces that feel both timeless and quietly distinctive.

Katie Larmour

Katie Larmour trained in Applied Art at the University of Ulster, Belfast, graduating in 2006. After eight years working as an art and antiques dealer, she established her design studio in 2014, combining a deep understanding of material culture with a hands-on making practice.

Irish Linen has always been central to her work. Growing up in Northern Ireland, surrounded by the legacy of the linen industry, and with family ties to the Huguenot artisans who helped shape it, linen is both a personal and professional inheritance.

A Material with Meaning

The studio is known for its use of natural, undyed Irish Linen, often in its distinctive oatmeal tone. Sourced from vintage and antique cloth, mill deadstock and studio off-cuts, the linen is chosen for its longevity, integrity and heritage.

Certified by the Irish Linen Guild as a trusted and recommended maker, the brand champions linen as a material worthy of careful design and contemporary relevance.

Festive Craft, Reimagined

Over recent years, Katie Larmour Linen has become particularly known for its beautifully crafted linen decorations, designed to bring warmth, softness and subtle sparkle to seasonal interiors.

Often described as jewellery for the tree, each piece is made using salvaged Irish Linen and intricate beadwork, designed to be treasured, collected and brought out year after year.

These designs are stocked internationally and can be found in cultural institutions, historic houses, museums, luxury hotels and design-led boutiques across Ireland, the UK and beyond.
