Twinkle, Twinkle

Twinkle, Twinkle

There’s a scattering of sparkle running through our collection—a signature mixture of tiny glass seed beads, sequins and tube-shaped bugle beads. Sometimes it’s concentrated, sometimes more sporadic: a few carefully placed glimmers that catch the light as a little decoration turns on its branch. Scattered, but always considered.

This is another of the recurring details I like to carry from one design to the next. Sequins and beads sit against the textured Irish Linen, with little faux pearls added to some pieces for richness. The balance changes depending on the shape and character of each design.

On our Silver Seal and Polar Bear, that shimmer feels quite at home with their wintry surroundings. It takes on a different mood across a Witch’s Hat, Gothic Bat or Ghost, while our Humble Hedgehog proves that even the quieter little characters can carry a little sparkle. It’s the same treatment that gives our hedgehog his prickles and our stars their magic.

Our Eiffel Tower recalls the lights of Paris, while the Croissant gets a rather more lavish finish than anything you might find at breakfast. A Dog Bone and fuzzy Tennis Ball join the gathering, too—familiar everyday shapes, dressed for the Christmas tree.

Some pieces seem particularly suited to this treatment: our Diamond, Cosmic Star and Sparkly Heart, along with our Kissing Lips and Beaded Bow. Elsewhere, the same scattered embellishments bring light to our Hare, Latin Cross and Island of Ireland. Different subjects, connected by a familiar way of working.

Our Sparkly Christmas Tree wears its embellishments rather like the decorations on the tree it hangs from. I like how a simple scattering can follow the shape of a piece, emphasise a curve or leave a little space for the linen itself to show. The sparkle matters, but so does the cloth beneath it.

And then there are our Little Stars, including our Twinkle Star—which brings us neatly back to where we began.
