A little flutter of Irish Linen, pearls and sparkle!

Our original Butterfly first took flight back in 2019, and over the years this delicate little oatmeal design has evolved into something rather more lavish, most notably for our special collaboration with Harrods Christmas World in 2025.

Inspired by the beauty and symmetry of butterfly wings, our original design was handmade from beautiful Irish Linen, with intricate hand-stitched metallic embroidery and delicate embellishments. A lovely little celebration of nature, interpreted with our signature touch of playful luxury.

For our Harrods collaboration, we created a deluxe interpretation for their wonderfully glamorous 'Debutantes & Divas' Christmas theme. Made from the prettiest pastel pink Irish Linen, with a generous sprinkling of pink and peach faux pearls and a dash of sparkly tinselled metallic thread, this rather special Butterfly was created exclusively for Harrods and showcased at their flagship store in Knightsbridge.

Finding the perfect pearls was quite an undertaking! We couldn't source the exact size and shade of pink I had in mind, so we hand-dyed a portion ourselves. The result was a beautiful mixture of delicate pinks and soft peach tones, with subtle variations that give the embellishments a particularly lovely depth and character.

Following its Harrods debut, I'm delighted to bring this more lavish interpretation into our own Katie Larmour collection, now known as our Pearl Butterfly.

You may also spot our earlier Butterfly designs in some of the gallery photographs, including the original oatmeal edition. These are lovely little reminders of how the design has evolved, although the oatmeal and white colourways will not be returning.

A rather beautiful way to bring a little nature-inspired charm to the Christmas tree, and equally lovely displayed throughout the year. A thoughtful gift for butterfly lovers, or anyone with a fondness for beautiful little objects with a story behind them.

Our Irish Linen

Our luxury artisan decorations are handcrafted from beautiful Irish Linen, thoughtfully sourced from a mixture of vintage fabrics, local mill deadstock, repurposed antique tablecloths and offcuts from our own cushion making. We also work with a small number of wonderful Irish linen mills, including one of the last remaining linen mills still active in Ireland today, carefully selecting fabrics for their colour, texture and character.

Contemporary Irish Linen Design

Katie Larmour Linen is an Irish design studio celebrated for refined craftsmanship, thoughtful sustainability and a modern approach to traditional Irish Linen.

Founded by designer-maker Katie Larmour, the studio brings together heritage materials and contemporary design to create pieces that feel both timeless and quietly distinctive.

Katie Larmour

Katie Larmour trained in Applied Art at the University of Ulster, Belfast, graduating in 2006. After eight years working as an art and antiques dealer, she established her design studio in 2014, combining a deep understanding of material culture with a hands-on making practice.

Irish Linen has always been central to her work. Growing up in Northern Ireland, surrounded by the legacy of the linen industry, and with family ties to the Huguenot artisans who helped shape it, linen is both a personal and professional inheritance.

A Material with Meaning

The studio is known for its use of natural, undyed Irish Linen, often in its distinctive oatmeal tone. Sourced from vintage and antique cloth, mill deadstock and studio off-cuts, the linen is chosen for its longevity, integrity and heritage.

Certified by the Irish Linen Guild as a trusted and recommended maker, the brand champions linen as a material worthy of careful design and contemporary relevance.

Festive Craft, Reimagined

Over recent years, Katie Larmour Linen has become particularly known for its beautifully crafted linen decorations, designed to bring warmth, softness and subtle sparkle to seasonal interiors.

Often described as jewellery for the tree, each piece is made using salvaged Irish Linen and intricate beadwork, designed to be treasured, collected and brought out year after year.

These designs are stocked internationally and can be found in cultural institutions, historic houses, museums, luxury hotels and design-led boutiques across Ireland, the UK and beyond.
