New Product Range 2019: Irish Linen Hanging Decorations

January may seem an odd time to launch a line of Christmas decorations but it was over the festive period that I got my idea to create these little beauties. Having spent my twenties collecting the cutest, unique and most gorgeous Christmas decorations I could find on all my adventures having spent the decade travelling around the world, with a gap year after uni that lasted 10 years. It has been a family tradition to bring home a trinket for the tree a gifts for the rest from whatever corner of the world we have been. No matter how weird, wonderful and far away our destination might have been we always managed to source something, and more importantly no matter what season it was there is always a Christmas offering available. it has made such a colourful and eclectic collection that we all treasure and a talking point when we go through our favourites each year. I picked a shell, as I absolutely love them and couldn’t think of a nicer motif, but also as I did not want to be limited to Winter. The concept came from wanting to use as much fabric as I could from my cushion making as possible. As sustainability is ever more so engrained in our minds, I am looking for ways to use my own offcuts. As well as being more eco-friendly with less wastage it also came from a place of wanting to be as economically as I could too, Irish Linen is such a luxury material and with that also expensive, it makes sense to want to use up all of my scraps and I had been saving them for quite some time. Now to work through the mound that has amassed in the middle of the room. With a flourishing tourist market in Belfast perhaps I can tap into it with these little gems. This way everyone can take home a piece of Irish linen with little room left in the suitcase. I can’t wait to see how they are received.
