The inspiration from this place is endless. It’s such an exquisite gem filled inside out with hand superb craftsmanship, unique details and colour. The Irish Linen industry was at its height during the Victorian era and so it’s only fitting that I would look to this beauty for ideas and also curate a selection of pieces I have already made that tie in. With a very Victorian combination of deep maroon and green I’ve put together a palette of my little limited edition coloured shells in vintage linen, a decorative feature that appears on the bar’s windows and moulded leather. I think the subtle tones come together beautifully. My ‘Yardsman Shirt’, an oversized blouse with a contemporary patchwork panel, which was based on Victorian ‘Belfast Brick’, also reflects the hues in the delightful two-tone polychromatic tiles of a warm brown blending into a nude and others floral terracotta shades on the Crown Bar’s exterior walls.

Gin Bottle - gin was an extremely popular Victorian era drink of choice, the bar was originally known as a gin palace. I’m guessing but I think those are little juniper berries scattered over the floor too (see gin bottle close up pic).

Crown - love it or hate it, it features prominently on the entrance to the front door in a beautifully multicoloured mosaic and also on the hand painted and etched glass windows.

Pineapple - hand painted motifs on interior mirrored panels.

Shell - look closely and you’ll see the shell motif appearing in the interior decor.

Champagne - from our celebratory  ‘drinks collection’, perfect for a posh tipple before heading across the road to a performance at the Grand opera House.

Guinness - I believe the most popular drink to the ordered at at the bar.

Cocktail - yup you guessed it a G&T.

Irish Whiskey - a local favourite, this little trinket takes the form of an antique ceramic whiskey bottle.
