It has since appeared in further colourways, including a collection of naturally dyed Irish Linens, lovingly hand-dyed by me in our workshop in Ireland using plant-based dyes.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThere's something rather lovely about the traditional beehive, a universally recognised symbol of hard work, community and the sweetness of nature. We didn't manage to spot one on our own visit, but I find them fascinating. I've also added a scattering of tiny embroidered dots. I'm not entirely sure why I keep returning to these little details, but they seem to find their way into so many of my designs, bringing a certain quiet magic with them!\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eOur Pumpkin has evolved through several batches over the years, beginning with natural oatmeal, followed by white, and later introducing those wonderfully murky tones mentioned above. When designing our Carrot, we decided to grow some of our own from seed in a small vegetable patch container. Three years later, and despite an impressive display of greenery above the soil, the largest carrot we've managed is barely an inch long! The boys are understandably baffled as to why we still can't eat them. Nevertheless, they've survived, they're growing (albeit at a rather leisurely pace), and we've thoroughly enjoyed the experience, much like our adventures growing strawberries.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eI've included photographs of our rather modest harvest, alongside a magnificent pile of carrots spotted at St George's Market in Belfast. Something to aspire to!\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWhen designing our linen Carrot, I wanted to give it a little something unexpected, and the tiny flower-shaped sequins were part of the design from the very beginning. They're a playful nod to the delicate flowers that carrot plants eventually produce. Needless to say, ours haven't managed any flowers yet either! Finding enough of these particular sequins has been something of an ordeal, but I think their iridescent shimmer brings the whole decoration to life, adding just the right touch of magic.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eEvery Carrot is individually handmade, with its own unique arrangement of sequins and beads. The embellishments are a wonderful mixture of old and new, including pieces reclaimed from a sparkly orange dress discovered at Oxfam Ireland and a beautiful ballgown from Marie Curie, both in Belfast. I particularly love the contrast of iridescent, matte, pearlescent, flat and faceted finishes, with subtle tones and reflections of yellow, green and peach mingling with the orange, and of course a touch of gold, a staple in our signature embellishment palette, to create something a little more unusual. Green beads bring balance and interest, while no decoration of mine would feel quite finished without a scattering of tiny glass seed beads for that subtle, magical sheen.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eOur Carrot is a wonderfully versatile little character, slipping seamlessly into an Easter or spring tree before making another appearance at Christmas. He looks particularly charming alongside our Irish Cottage and other farmyard decorations, or hanging from the mantelpiece.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eYou could even leave one out for Santa and Rudolph on Christmas Eve, alongside the customary whiskey or milk. I'm sure they'd be delighted!\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eOur original limited-edition, naturally dyed versions, with their particularly muddy, rusty-brown tones, have now sold out.
